KATHERINE HOLIDAY

What a wonderful stay in Katherine Town
With Brad & Jane of high renown
And Kayne bouncing all the way
To school and sport and all the day.

A house to die for (but preferably stay ‘live’)
And a garden that never ceases to thrive,
With Bradley’s tender loving care
And a huge amount energy to spare.

But a home needs the magic of a woman’s touch,
And that’s where Janie does so much.
Always gracious and welcoming and full of fun,
And quick to offer help to everyone.

This has its drawbacks – of great renown,
They want her on every committee in town!!
But she seems to manage and weave the spell,
And work at a fulltime job as well.

And now the burden of a visiting Mum,
Who’s having a ball and loves to come,
But is not much help on the domestic side
And very literally ‘comes for the ride’.

The circus was wonderful – loud were my cheers!
Haven’t been to the circus for fifty years!

So thank you kids for all you’ve done
To entertain and give me fun.
I’ve loved the company, had a ball
And most important I love you all.

Every year Mum goes North to spend a couple of months with daughter Jane and her husband Brad in Katherine to escape the Southern winter. This was her 'thank you' poem after her 2011 stay (and she really did love going to the circus).
